WAR 1812 US ARMY HAND WRITTEN LEDGER UNIFORM REGULATION

WAR 1812 US ARMY HAND WRITTEN LEDGER UNIFORM REGULATION
SKU:

Up for auction is a wonderful hand written 4 page ledger of Military Uniform requirements from the early 1800s, possibly the War of 1815, in a fine hand, with pen and ink. Very nice. Sections include Wings (Cavalry, Artillery rifle in gold bullion, enlisted silver bullion), Chevrons, Coatee, Uniforms (caps, ie cavalry to be leather bell crown, silver plated seales, white eagle in front, uniforms to be dark blue, the national color), Plumes and Pompons, Tapels for Caps, Stocks (we believe an ascot type device),  and vests. Chuck full of information, we believe US Army. Some research should be able to narrow the uniform requirements to a date of issue, which sounds like a fun research project. Pre Civil War at least, very neat, perhaps earlier than War of 1812. The paper has browned with edge and corner wear, creased in long dimension, some light moisture soiling. Still very neat and a great historical reference. Undated and we found no name to associate it to, we would assume an officer, possibly while training at West Point or the like, trying to get the requirements down. Very neat. It measures 7 3/4"w x 12 1/2".
