EARLY ALFRED T BIRCHER WATERCOLOR COAST PAINTING SEASCAPE BRICHER SKU:
Offered is a wonderful watercolor watercolor painting from an estate, signed lower left corner Bircher. We believe it is by 20th century British artist Alfred Thompson Bircher, noted for coatal scenes, marines and ships and whose works normally sell in the $8m to $10m range. We do have a bit of confusion on one point, as Alfred Thompson Bricher (1837-1908), the American artist, is ofetne referred to as Bircher in many online resources, enough to confuse us as to whether or not he went by both spellings, including several museums. But from what we can tell, the signature is different from 2 we saw Bricher the American artist used (using all upper case letters, with an AT or a T). The scene shows a lonely sailboat on a calm ocean, with white caps breaking on the shore. A very serene scene. Circa early 1900s, some light focing, nicely matted. Painting measures 15 3/8" x 5 1/4". Frame has 2 damaged corners on right side, see photos. Some finish wear. It measures 24 3/4"w x 14 3/4"h. We can ship just the painting, no frame for some postage savings.
