 1871 JAMES WALSH ENGRAVER DRAWING SKETCH HUDSON RIVER SKU:
Offered is a wonderful and rare original penciled sketch by Irish born engraver James Walsh (1820-?, Whos Who). The artists lived and worked in New York City, with his American born Wife and children. The pencil/graphite sketch may be an illustration executed for a book, as it is signed lower right corner James Walsh A. Sec 2 1871. The scene shows 2 people on a bridge, over looking what may be the Hudson River, nicely done and in good condition. Moisture stain upper left of image Period frame in walnut with deep patina and clean matting, no stains. Frame has dings and finish wear, but still displays nicely. On the wooden backer someone has written By James Walsh H.D. 256 W 11th St N NYC Lived 1832-1898. Frame wired on back for easy hanging. It measures 26 1/4in w x 11 1/8in h. Image measures 14 7/8in w x 11 1/4in h. A wonderful estate find.
