Printed for the Author, NY 1889. 244 pages + hard bound cover and foldout map of the city. Hand inscribed by the author on front end leave, April 19th 1889. Contents includes description of the city, population, NY Hospital, Fort George, residences, Bowling Green, courts, watchmen, firemen, militia, climate, markets, dress, trade, stage routes, wharfs and ferries, banks, societies, Sunday laws, churches, theatres, Columbia College, dancing, Reception of George Washington in the City and much more. Book in very good condition for age. Exhistorical society copy with minimum marks and bookplate. Light cover wear, tight binding, text clean overall with some light foxing. It measures 6 1/8" x 9 5/8" x 11/16". Cover corners dinged. A wonderful find.
