PRIMITIVE FOLK ART OIL PAINTING STONEWARE CROCK EDWARDS SKU:
Offered is a great folk art oil on canvas painting of a corner of a room with a stoneware crock with andiron on top of the lid and a butter churn behind. The painting has been signed Edwards and the back has in pencil M. Edwards. We believe it is a fairly contemporary piece, done in the the 1940s-50s, but are not sure. There is a scratch on bottom of the crock and some spots of paint flakes in upper right corner. paining has been framed in a oak from which has a rich patina. There is remnants of a label on the wood on the top, which should clean up with some work, but may leave a mark in patina. It has 2 eye hooks on back for wiring. The oil paints have nice subtle Earth tones. Frame measures 21" x 27". Painting measures 18" x 24". A great estate find.
