1987 WALTER PROCHOWNIK GRAPHITE DRAWING BUFFALO NY ART
1987 WALTER PROCHOWNIK GRAPHITE DRAWING BUFFALO NY ART
Offered is a wonderful and rare original charcoal or graphite sketch by listed University of Buffalo NY Professor and artist Walter Prochownik (1923-2000) and Helen Fahey. Prochownik's modernist works can be found in the Albright Knox Art Gallery, Ball State Univ Museum of Art, and the Burchfield-Penney Art Center, among others and he is one of the most beloved Buffalo NY artists. Prochownik¿s legacy includes three large mural commissions in the Buffalo area. He is best known for You the People, an expansive and expressive mural created for the people of Erie County at the request of former County Executive Ned Regan in 1974 for the lobby of the Edward A. Rath County Building. Two other murals are Summertime, 1988, on view in UB¿s Charles B. Sears Law Library, and I Know Where I Have Been, but I Know Not Where I am Going, 1990, commissioned for the law offices of Magavern, Magavern & Grimm, L.L.P. in the Rand building. A dedicated professor at the U of B for 32 years, we collaborated on this work with Lancaster NY artist Helen Fahey, one of whose works can be seen at the Lancaster NY Town Hall.

This wonderful work has been signed by both artists, 11/7/83, on paper which has then been mounted, leaving some bubbles and creases, but it displays nicely. Nicely matted and framed in silver toned metal. The sketch measures 20"w x 25 1/2"h. Frame measures 27"w x 33 1/4"h. Prochowniks works are offere din Art Galleries in Western NY for anywhere from $1500 to $2500, here is a great opportunity to get an original for a great price. Found with this work was an original Helen Fahey watercolor we will be listing in another auction. A wonderful estate find. Please note, this can be shipped without the frame for $25 within US, insured.
